The story begins with a black man named Carl
Johnson being killed during
a drive by shooting. The story then shifts to the Montel Williams show
where the guests are 3 nuns arrested for prostitution. Shooter
interrupts
the broadcast to solicit his services as a hero.
The scene shift again to a community center where street
crimes
and guns are being discussed.
Shooter steals his mail from the Montel Williams set and
finds
a letter from Carl Johnson's mother telling about her sons death and
her
other son's desire to fight the killers on his own. Shooter arrives to
their community and immediately starts attacking crime. Shooter gets
into
a disagreement with "Growler", one of the members in the community that
doesn't want him there.
They agree long enough to walk the streets checking out the
situation.
Shooter sees a car speed by making threats on them and attacks the car
with the people inside. Growler realizes it's a distraction and heads
over
to Mary Johnson's home. Growler stops a thug from setting off
explosives.
Shooter catches up and he bickers with Growler and keeps the
explosives.
Shooter drags the thug away to find out more about the guys
that
sent him. Shooter uses the thugs tips to find more thugs who are
opening
a crate of guns. Shooter tosses a grenade causing the crate to explode.
Shooter uses one of the survivors to lead him back to a ship delivering
more guns. He blows up the ship with the guns and people on it. Growler
witnesses the explosion and is not pleased. The story ends.
Note:
According to series writer Art Holcomb,
"Jim Shooter gave me the plots that he wanted for issues #1 and #8. I
wrote
and plotted the remainder of the stories in the mini-series." The plots
to the rest of the series reportedly still exist.
